Besonders die in Mitteleuropa vorkommende Karelische Maserbirke erzielt hohe Holzpreise, was sie f\u00fcr Winzer*innen zus\u00e4tzlich attraktiv macht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Warum pflanzt Hoss Hauksson, biodynamischer Winzer aus D\u00f6ttingen im Kanton Aargau, knapp 20 Birken in seinen Rebberg? \u00abWeil Traian mich mit viel Leidenschaft von den Qualit\u00e4ten der Birke \u00fcberzeugt hat\u00bb, sagt er. Gemeint ist der Forstwissenschaftler Traian Tudor aus Wohlenschwil im Kanton Aargau, der sich seit seiner Studienzeit in Schweden aus Leidenschaft f\u00fcr die Karelische Birke engagiert<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Widerstandsf\u00e4higer, wirtschaftlich vielversprechender Klimabaum<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Karelische Birke ist ein einheimischer Vertreter der W\u00e4lder Nord-, Ost- und teilweise auch Mitteleuropas. Sie ist anspruchslos und kommt auch mit zwischenzeitlicher Trockenheit aus. Nach 20 bis 30&nbsp;Jahren sind die B\u00e4ume erntereif und erzielen mit 8000 Franken pro Kubikmeter hohe Preise. \u00abDas Potenzial der Birke als Klimabaum ist wissenschaftlich belegt und spezifisch f\u00fcr Rebberge bringt sie einige Vorteile mit sich\u00bb, erkl\u00e4rt Traian Tudor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bodenverbesserung durch Birken<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Als Schwachzehrer entziehen Birken dem Boden nur wenige N\u00e4hrstoffe und beeinflussen damit laut Tudor das N\u00e4hrstoffgleichgewicht im Rebberg wenig. Ausserdem nehmen Birken Schwermetalle wie Zink und Kupfer aus B\u00f6den auf, was die Bodenqualit\u00e4t verbessere.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Wurzeln der Birke gehen eine Verbindung mit Mykorrhiza-Pilzen ein und f\u00f6rdern so die Bodenstruktur sowie die N\u00e4hrstoffaufnahme. F\u00fcr Rebberge bringen Birken weitere n\u00fctzliche Eigenschaften mit: Als Tiefwurzler stabilisieren sie den Boden in Hanglagen. Und sie beg\u00fcnstigen das Mikroklima durch leichte Beschattung und h\u00f6here Luftfeuchtigkeit. Nicht zuletzt gelten Birken als wertvoll f\u00fcr die Biodiversit\u00e4t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bereits vertraut mit Vitiforst<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Wie bei allen B\u00e4umen, die Hauksson zwischen oder neben seine Reben pflanzt, sorgt er f\u00fcr ausreichenden Schutz vor Wildverbiss und V\u00f6geln. Die \u00fcber einen Meter grossen filigranen Maserbirken binden Traian Tudor und Hoss Hauksson an lange Bambusstangen. \u00abSo verhindern wir, dass sich V\u00f6gel auf die jungen B\u00e4ume setzen\u00bb, erkl\u00e4rt Tudor. Gerade im Winter k\u00f6nnten die B\u00e4ume sonst leicht umknicken.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>F\u00fcr Hoss Hauksson sind B\u00e4ume im Rebberg grunds\u00e4tzlich nichts Neues.
