Die Mischung macht\u2019s!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Str\u00e4ucher oder B\u00e4ume auf \u00c4ckern und Weiden st\u00e4rken das \u00d6kosystem und sch\u00fctzen das Klima. Wir liefern Einblicke in die Praxis.

Eigentlich ist diese gemischte Art der Landnutzung alt und war weitverbreitet. Kastanienselven oder Streuobstwiesen sind bekannte Beispiele. Luftaufnahmen aus den 1950er-Jahren zeigen, wie landauf, landab verbreitet Obstb\u00e4ume standen. Heute ist die Landschaft vielerorts ziemlich ausger\u00e4umt. Doch die B\u00e4ume und Hecken kommen zur\u00fcck. Verschiedene Betriebe setzen wieder auf Agroforstsysteme.
Einer ist der Gutsbetrieb des landwirtschaftlichen Bildungszentrums des Kantons Graub\u00fcnden; der Plantahof ist einer der rund 50 Pilotbetriebe beim B\u00fcndner Klimaprojekt.

Auf der Weide direkt beim grossen Viehstall im b\u00fcndnerischen Landquart wurden rund 60 Hochstammobstb\u00e4ume gepflanzt. Sie sollen dereinst Fr\u00fcchte liefern und irgendwann auch den Tieren Schatten spenden.
Angelegt wurde die Anlage so, dass das Gras rund um die B\u00e4ume weiterhin mit Maschinen gem\u00e4ht werden kann.
Dies ist ein Merkmal von Agroforstsystemen \u2013 die landwirtschaftliche Nutzung rundum soll nicht leiden und weiterhin m\u00f6glich sein. Beim Plantahof setzt man mit den Obstb\u00e4umen zus\u00e4tzlich auf die Produktion von Most.

Eine besondere Art von Agroforstwirtschaft betreibt Pirmin Adler aus Oberr\u00fcti im Kanton Aargau. Er hat in den letzten Jahren hunderte Str\u00e4ucher und B\u00e4ume auf seinen Weiden gepflanzt \u2013 w\u00fcrde man die Pflanzenreihen aufaddieren, k\u00e4me man auf eine L\u00e4nge von \u00fcber einem Kilometer. In dieser Gr\u00f6ssenordnung ist das in der Schweiz einzigartig.
Die Hecken dienen seinen Rindern als Futterquelle. Er verf\u00fcttert die frischen Triebe und das Laub. Die Str\u00e4ucher w\u00fcrden wertvolle Mineralstoffe liefern, sagt Adler. Zus\u00e4tzlich sollen weitere Inhaltsstoffe in den Geh\u00f6lzen f\u00fcr eine gute Gesundheit im Stall sorgen. Die Futterhecke also quasi auch als Open-Air-Apotheke.

Dieses Zusammenspiel aus mehrj\u00e4hrigen Str\u00e4uchern oder B\u00e4umen und landwirtschaftlichen Kulturen bringt nicht nur eine Doppelnutzung \u2013 Agroforst kann noch mehr. Dar\u00fcber reden wir mit Mareike J\u00e4ger. Sie ist Expertin f\u00fcr Agroforstsysteme und Dozentin an der Z\u00fcrcher Hochschule ZHAW.
Die Durchmischung optimiert zum Beispiel den Wasserhaushalt im Erdreich, die Hecken und B\u00e4ume k\u00f6nnen Bodenerosion vorbeugen und f\u00fcr ein gem\u00e4ssigtes Mikroklima in der Umgebung sorgen. Die Fl\u00e4chen sollen so widerstandsf\u00e4higer gegen Extremwetter werden.

Agroforst ist aber nicht nur eine Massnahme, um klimafitter zu werden, sondern auch, um aktiv etwas f\u00fcr das Klima zu tun. B\u00e4ume entziehen der Atmosph\u00e4re durch Photosynthese CO2 und leiten so Kohlenstoff in den Boden und speichern diesen auch im Holz und den Wurzeln.
